Education

The BirdLife Mornington Peninsula committee believes that education about the behaviour and conservation of birds
is of vital importance. Accordingly, members give talks to local interest groups and clubs, and visit a number of schools
on the Mornington Peninsula from time to time. Furthermore, a number of educational resources have been prepared:
This gives concise information about where to find birds in the region, plus information about the "nuts & bolts"
of bird watching. It retails for $15.
  • A poster illustrating the essential features of raptors, with simple text and colour photos.
  • Sets of A4-size panels giving detailed information about birds commonly seen on the Mornington Peninsula:
Black-shouldered Kite, Nankeen Kestrel, Swamp Harrier, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Black Swan & Silver Gull
  • A poster about avian flight - it gives the bare essentials of this subject.
A technical follow-up to the poster is available as a CD or PDF (5Mb) to download.
Every effort has been made to present the material as a clear and coherent whole.
  • A poster showing photos of the birds most commonly seen on the Mornington Peninsula.
Further information about our activities in the area of education, and about the above-mentioned resources, can be obtained
